July has been very busy. Kids and grands in and out having beach time with us and without us, enjoying all of our hot, beach-y weather.
Lillies are blooming and hydrangeas and hibiscus are beautiful this time of year. We have had abundant rain this summer, for a change.
More yellow-orange colors in our harvest of yellow cherry and larger tomatoes. We like these b/c they are so sweet.
Our garden contains green peppers, basil and other herbs as well.
Everything else we buy fresh at the Millville Farmers Market on Thursdays.
Sunsets are beautiful in the summer.
And full moons over the ocean as well.
David and his family had a beach week with us this month. Here he and Jack explore the largest gun barrel found on a warship located at Fort Myles in Cape Henlopen.
At Seacrets in OC
and watching all the OC night life.
One night on the beach Eva noticed the red ocean and pink clouds at sunset and took this picture of it. I had never seen such a lovely reflection before.
Jenni and Will came the next week which was a very hot one and enjoyed the surf. Will has no fear!
My favorite time on the beach is in the evening.
The last week of July all 17 of us lived in these 3 lovely cabins for a few days on the Shenandoah River near Luray, VA. Weather was perfect with warm, sunny days and cool evenings and nights. Hot tubs adorned every deck and were frequented by the grands, esp. I suspect that some of them never made it out of their bathing suits!
Stepping into the river, this was the view.
Bon fires were part of every evening's entertainment. Large bundles of it were bought from a nearby farmer for 5 dollars a load.
RIVER ACTIVITIES:
So what do you do when you are a kid without wi-fi for a few days?
Play games!
Jenga......
and our new favorite, Spoons.....
Or you delight the adults with a "production" every evening by the camp fire!
Blessed mountain time.
