Charleston/ day 2

Our time in Charleston continues another day so that we can do some more sightseeing of the beautiful old homes and churches.
Highlight of our day was the boat trip out to and tour of Fort Sumter, site of the beginning of the Civil War.
Lastly we joined Dave, Ann Marie and family on Hilton Head Island.  Weather is BEAUTIFUL and the beach is right here!

Charleston.... day 1

We are in Charleston on our way to Hilton Head, SC.  Taking advantage of pleasant temps and sunshine we walked the waterfront and took a carriage ride around the streets with the beautiful historic homes. Charleston is a lovely walkable city.

Bandstand benches ready for first concert

Well, here they are..... newly painted boardwalk benches in place in front of the bandstand, scene of weekend concerts all summer long.  Enjoy their freshness now for soon layers of melted ice cream, catsup, and smooshed French fries will coat them with stickiness indicative of warm summer days.

Afternoon in Harrington

Spent the afternoon on a bus trip to Harrington trying our luck at the slots and enjoying a yummy lunch buffet.  The day was rainy and cold, so we were happy to have the opportunity to meet new people and increase our wealth by 16 dollars!

Air and Space Museum

We have had the pleasure of watching Will this weekend and spent the morning at his favorite museum where he likes to "push buttons" and "play computer", not to mention looking through a telescope, lifting heavy bars of different weights and watching Scott Hamilton skate through the universe. The weather was very spring-like with temps in the 70s causing the forsythia to pop and the daffodils to open. A fun day for all of us!

Face make-over

Saw Alice in Wonderland this weekend with Layne, Eva and Jack.  Eva was motivated by the Red Queen's court to modify her own nose and forehead with a Play-dough make-over.  Kind of the opposite of what most nose jobs would look like!

First signs

Spring can't be far away.  Jim snapped our first crocuses this morning.  Our first day of bright sunshine must have coaxed them out.  They are especially welcome this year as our winter has been so severe.  We will look forward to other signs of spring...like returning friends, warmer temps and beach days!  :-)
