Will's favorite things at the beach

Will has a list of favorite things he always likes to do at the beach, so today we tackled his list.  We went to Candy Kitchen where he had Easter basket money to spend.

Wawa donuts are on the top of his list!

We hiked back behind the nature center where Will was "King"...his words!

Will at the beach

West Park is a neighborhood play ground which is a combination of old and new.  Today Will decided to try out one of the very old pieces of equipment.  I remember this "merry go round" from my elementary school days!  We stood, usually not holding onto the handles, then when it got rolling really fast.....jumped off.

Still breezy and cool, but Will has waited all winter for a jump in the surf!

Tiptoeing through the tulips in Lewes

This very cold and windy weekend was the Lewes Tulip Festival.  We braved the weather and saw some new places just opened since last time we visited.

Poor tulips......got blown around and kept their petals closed.  Lewes was founded by the Dutch in the 1600s...hence the importance of the tulips in the spring.

Touch of Italy is one of the new shops in Lewes.  Here I watched mozzarella being made and then got to sample the fresh, warm cheese......yum!

Local theatre

THE SECRET GARDEN SHOW LOGO

Last evening we attended our local theatre company's production of The Secret Garden.  We thoroughly enjoyed the acting (esp. the 11 yo lead actress) and the music was superb.  Looking forward to their next production of Chicago.

Kylie....our cheerleader

This weekend we traveled to U MD with Kylie to watch her team, Island Elite compete in a cheerleading competition.  Always awesome, it is amazing what these girls can do.  Kylie hopes to take her talents on to high school and become part of a varsity cheerleading team.

Jim, who belongs to the Coastal Camera Club, arranged a club tour of the Indian River Bridge Consturction Site. The tour included getting on the deck of the bridge where they could roam around, within reason to take all the pictures they wanted.

Members of the club.

Climbing the stairs to the deck.

Raising a new cable stay up to the tower with the tower crane next to it.

Bottom end of a cable stay.

The concrete smoothing rig for the deck concrete.

Cable stays holding the span over the water.

Hard at work.

Dune grass

On our beach walk today we discovered newly planted dune grass on our renovated dune.  The dune grass holds down the sand and prevents it from blowing away.  It is  a back-breaking task to plant the grass, taken on by a determined group of volunteers.

Pop bread

Pop Bread is back!  Jim is using his Valentine's gift of a new bread maker to experiment with different kinds of healthy bread to make.  Love the smell of baking bread!  And since April has brought even more winter weather, warm bread is a good thing!
