Cape Cod Day 2

Halloween was present everywhere on our ride north to Provincetown.

How about these witches?

Loved the dunes on these beaches.

Cape Cod Day 1

Today dawned windy and cold, but then we had sunshine and started our day of exploring, shopping, eating and driving through towns seen on the map.

Wine tasting and picked out wines to add to T-giving menu.

Beautiful shoreline

Wood's Hole which is where one boards the ferry for Martha's Vineyard

Snowy ride to Cape Cod

Snow before Halloween?  A foreshadowing of a really bad winter????

Jim outside a rest stop in NJ where it was really snowing and roads and sidewalks were neither plowed nor shovelled.
Arrived in Cape Cod for a week's stay on the ocean where a nor'easter was blowing when we arrived!

Choo-choo

On Saturday we went with our AARP group to the Wilmington Western RR station and boarded a steam-driven train for an enjoyable trip through the Red Clay Valley in PA.

Such a great photo op....Jim took some fascinating pictures of this volunteer-run operation.

Birthday picnic......

Oblige me here, the  party for family October birthdays was just so much fun that there were few pictures I deleted.  The ones I included show just a little bit of the fun we had on a sunny, windy Saturday afternoon in Quiet Waters Park near Annapolis.

Will is telling me that he has fun with so many cousins to play with.

Cousins line up for birthday desserts. Each birthday person picks his/her favorite treat and another bakes it.  I always make David's fav....this year pecan pie, and Ann Marie bakes me a delish apple pie.

Bobby's birthday gift....and yes, he will run in them.  He is OLD enuf now to not care what others think!

Ann Marie's expertise  in Laynie's cupcakes.

Opening gifts....I received an amazing back pack from the kids and grands.  It will hold my water, laptop, lunch, and "stuff".  I will try it out when we travel to Cape Cod in a few weeks.

..and a new MacBook Air   (thanks, Will for your help in opening my gifts.)

Laynie got her red skinny jeans.....

....and a pretty necklace.

Ella and Will enjoying the playground.

Hey!  This looks like one of my yoga positions!

Larry likes his birthday beer.

Kylie, Keelyn, Eva, AM and Jack set up.

Here they come!

Jack on a comfy swing.

Appetizer with a Halloween twist!

Long weekend.......

What a great weekend!  Weather was perfect, beach was busy with visitors, greyhounds and craft fairs.  We included in our activities a homecoming parade and game at Kylie's high school and a retirement for a buddy of mine, traveling to southern MD for the party.

Ella is held up by Keelyn and her 2 friends as we waited for the homecoming football game to begin.

Kylie on her homecoming parade float.

Project of the weekend was staining Dave and Ann Marie's house......Jim helped Dave get part of the house finished......

...while Jack jammed.......

....and Eva waited to go shopping.

More basil

The garden is still producing and recent rain has given the peppers, tomatoes and basil another boost.

Enough basil for two more batches of pesto.  Yummy hot spaghetti dish for the long winter nights.

October first

It's all about pumpkin festivals and new rules on the beach.  It is October, and Fall and Second Season (also called shoulder season here.....don't ask me why).   And the weather is finally cool and muggy-free!  All good.......

Here we are at the first pumpkin festival at the beach.  It is on our local fire house grounds and features many of our favorite restaurants, bake sales, crafts, magic, kid games.....something for everyone!  Jim is having some delish cream of crab soup from Cafe 26.

Dogs are now allowed on the beach again until next spring.  Our neighbor Toby is enjoying his treat as he "touches" the end of the boardwalk.  We think this is a cute trick as we see many human walkers doing the same thing.
