Grands on the cove

Keeping cool on the cove was easy today either in the pool, being smacked with water balloons, or taking a boat ride to the river, especially being pulled in a tube!  Here are Keelyn, Jack, Kylie, Eva, Layne, Will and Ella enjoying popsicles.
Thanks, Dave and Ann Marie for hosting this fun day.

Beach bums

Found these pictures on nephew Chris Taylor's photo profile in facebook yesterday.  Think that cousins Chris and Kevin were 10-ish that summer we had a reunion in Middlesex Beach (near where we live now).  What an unexpected, happy surprise to find Kevin and Chris sharing that "digging moment" on the beach....Kevin's favorite place.  Thanks, Chris, for saving these photos and including them with all your others.

Fun-packed week

In the words of Eva and Keelyn, we are having a "fun-packed week".  We started off on a train ride to NYC where we planned an American Girl kinda couple of days.  Our hotel was near Bryant Park where the girls rode the carousel.  Later we ate at a very nice restaurant adjacent to the hotel, then walked to Times Square in a drenching rain.
Next morning was hot and sunny and we walked to Rockefeller Center with dressed up American Girl dolls.  At the AG store when it opened, there was plenty of time to shop before our luncheon there.  Returned home on the train and now trying to stay cool at the beach.

Local theatre

When I was growing up we called it "summer stock" and I saw my first production of a musical, "Carousel", at one of these little summer theaters.  Another couple and we love the local offerings and this week we drove to Milford, DE, about an hour away, to see "Moonlight and Magnolias" at the Second Street Riverfront Theatre. Last week we saw "The Rainmaker" in Georgetown, DE, and still ahead in July is a rendering of "Annie Get Your Gun" closer to home in Rehoboth, DE.  Of course, dinner is included in these adventures.  Last night we ate in a restaurant which was originally a two-story hardware store dating to the 1920s.  Get us out of our little beach town and we are discovering all sorts of treasures!

Queen of the pool

Keelyn has completed most of her birthday activiites and has accrued enough cash to buy herself some pool accessories.......some "don't touch my stuff" blow-ups which make pool lounging even more fun.

Afternoon at James Farm

Jenni, Will and I explored James Farm Ecological Preserve today.  We hiked a bit to the Indian River Bay, warm salt water supporting lots of minnows and spawning horseshoe crabs.  Will met Winnie the dog and threw her ball for her numerous times as she ran into the water to retrieve it.  What a treasure this place is!  Think we will return for a full moon kayak  ride.

Morning Coffee with Will

Will and Jenni are our first official summer beach visitors.  Before beaching, shopping or walking to the library, we must have our morning coffee!  Cheers!
