When I was growing up, George Washington's birthday was celebrated on the day, February 22nd. This before Presidents' Day was established as a tribute to both Lincoln and Washington, and an opportunity for a long weekend of shopping opportunities in mid- February. Associated with the day was cherry pie...you know, the tale of George chopping down his father's cherry tree.
These CHERRY HAND PIES are a yummy smaller version.....
Pie crust is rolled out and filled with a mixture of cherries and raspberry jam.
Egg wash is brushed on and covered with sugar.
Oh, yes!
