Back to the beach

We returned home over the weekend to a perfect beach time.  Pop and Will are having a serious conversation about cars, sand and Candy Kitchen.

Having fun on a Sunday morning

Lake Cottage

So much to do at our lake cottage this week......

Jim took photos during our drive through The Montezuma Wildlife Preserve where we think we saw an eaglet off on his own.  Above is what we think was a red-winged blackbird.

A very tired Will watching the camp fire with Pop....Cayuga Lake is in the background.

Solitary time out in the rowboat......

Goose Watch Winery

This week we are Jenni and Will's guests at a lakefront cottage on Cayuga Lake in NYS. The area is known for vineyards and we visited a nice one today.

Cayuga Lake is in the background.

Yellowstone

We entered the park through Gardiner, MT....the north entrance.  Here is the arch which says, "For the benefit and enjoyment of the people."
Yellowstone is our first national park.  It has something for everyone!

Old Faithful....always on time and always spectacular!

The 3 Musketeers......  we saw alot of bison.

Brand new baby elk.  Mamas came onto the grounds of our lodge for safety from grizzlies while giving birth.

One of many bears we saw.

Rocks

Lots of snow in the higher altitudes....and cold, too!

Off he goes........

After a patient six month hiatus, orthopedic foot doctor's appointments and four weeks of physical therapy, Jim has beat his current bout of plantar faciitis and is running again.  Today's heat index of high 90 degree temps did not deter his run to the gym.

Lettuce

We have been harvesting lettuce for 2 weeks........lots of good salad eating when added to the broccoli and onions from our garden and local asparagus which is prevalent now.
These heads of lettuce were given away today as our lettuce crisper was full.

Ducks, new patio, and magnificent sky

This morning Jim took some time to feed his duck friends who waddle up onto the backyard whenever they see him.  He feeds them corn.  He is sitting at our new little bistro table which now fits on our new patio he made with pavers (you can see the corner of the patio on the bottom left corner of the picture.)  I think the ducks like that they will see more of him now that we have some backyard seating.

Returning home from the western shore on Thursday, we encountered beautiful sky all the way home.
