Blooming

While the rain came down outside, I spent some time today with my camera taking pictures of my blooming African violets and Christmas cactus.

This violet loves the eastern sun and blooms all the time.

My tiny Christmas cactus is a constant bloomer, too.

My newest violet from Linda.  It started as one leaf and now has flowers of different colors.

Lasagne

So, when I get in the mood to make a killer lasagne, I need to start with the good stuff to put into it.

Touch of Italy in Rehoboth and Lewes has the good stuff...even cannolis and crusty bread.

Salad is layered asparagus, cantaloupe and mozzarella chunks, grilled proscuitto, Parmesan cheese and slivered almonds.

Here's the finished product....full of cheese and spinach.....yum.

Free manure

Never too early to begin work on the garden, so when I saw the FREE MANURE sign at a horse farm not far from Lewes, off we went to collect.  Had to shovel our own, but the pile was big and it did not take long.....not so smelly in the cold.

Now a bucket full sits on my compost covered with yet another layer of shredded leaves which I raked this week.....makes spring seem that much closer when beginning garden prep.
